Kitty Update Sept 17

Sept 17 2024
The lady who wanted the siamese kitten, never got back to me, so happily I didn’t have to give away one of my babies. The kittens are doing great and have had all their shots and are all microchipped. They like to play around me when I get my mile or two walking in late at night. I just do multiple laps on the walkway between the house and the barn.

You remember Chief, the big tough tomcat who has been hanging around in between getting beat up by other tomcats. I talked to my vet about how best to get him fixed. She said when I manage to catch him, the vets would do their best to get him in the next day or the day after that at the latest. A week later Chief finally came inside for something to eat. He’s an absolute sucker for catnip, so I used that to lead him into one of the rooms downstairs. The next morning I called the vet and was able to get him right in, all I had to do was get him into a carrier. I use a extra big carrier for the tough cats. I put a little catnip in the carrier and he walked right in. Easy pesy. An hour and a half later he was back from the vet with all his shots, neutered, and microchipped. So that’s a job well done.

Kitty Update April 14

Kitty update April 14 2024
Big news at the cat ranch!
Miko, the abandoned apartment kitty, just gave birth to at least 3 tiny kittens. 2 dark ones and a blonde. I don’t know if she’s done yet. Obviously Miko was already pregnant when they brought her to me. I was pretty suspicious because she was really fat and eating like a horse. I had her set up in her own room with a nice private nesting box, which she put to good use. There’s a few places in her room that I still need to kitty proof but I have a little time before the kids are out and about.

Kitty Update March 15 2024

March 15th
A couple of days ago I got a phone call from my neighbor to the north. One of her jobs is cleaning abandoned apartments. You know where people just take off and leave a mess. At the apartment she was cleaning, the people left a mess and also left a cat. She couldn’t leave the cat but also couldn’t keep it, so she called me. The kitty, a pretty white calico, has been living in my basement for the last few days while she gets used to being here and being around my other cats. Once she’s settled down I’ll take her to the vet for the first of her shots and later to be spayed if she’s not already fixed. I’ve decided to call her Miko.

Black Kitty Gets Better

Time for a kitty update.
The good news is that there’s no bad news.
All my kitties are doing fine.
The usual suspects, aka the neighborhood cats, still show up for dinner, at least every other day.
The one interesting bit of news is about big black shorthaired cat. What I thought were old scars on his head were in fact fairly fresh wounds. It looks like a dog had the poor guy by his head. He was lucky to get away. The reason I realized that they weren’t old scars is that they started to heal up and hair over. Also as the swelling in his head started going down, his one ear that was sticking out to the side, started standing up again. He was just in here eating a little bit ago and he’s looking better each time I see him. He’s still got a little ways to go but at least I’m not so worried about him.
